Welcome to Surakhan

The meaning of Surakhan

Since 900 years ago, the king’s dinner table has been referred to as ‘Sura’ in Korea. ‘Sura’ was the 12 course meal offered to the king 3 times a day and therefore represents a meal fit for a king prepared with one’s heart and soul.

Khan is the Mongolian word for king and so ‘Surakhan’ is the coming together of two words, a meal fit for a king and king. It is a word that’s easy to read, understand and memorise. It is a word that was made to easily convey its meaning.

And so this conjoined word made by us at Surakhan means a king’s meal. As such at Surakhan, we endeavour to provide every guest with food fit for a king, made with fresh ingredients and natural seasoning, with the best service.

Therefore, all of you who have come to Surakhan are now kings, queens, princes and princesses and we hope to serve you as such. For your health, the majority of the food at Surakhan is made from natural seasoning only.

Thank you,

From all those at Surakhan
